Mimi Wascher (she/her), born in 1995, grew up in Graz, Austria.
She spent her youth with various artistic and athletic practices spanning from rhythmic gymnastics to urban dance and martial-arts tricking. At the age of 19 she started her professional dance education at Fontys Hogeschool (NL) and eventually obtained a Bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp (BE). After graduation Mimi decided to base herself in Brussels, Belgium, where she still lives today.

As a freelance dance artist she performed for Théo Mercier and Steven Michel (Big Sisters), Joan Jonas (Mirror Piece), Guy Nader and Maria Campos (Natural Order of Things), Ruben Mardulier (various works), Renan Martins (Lover’s Eyes) and the dance company tout petit (Niet Vallen & DRRRAAI). In 2021 she decided to create her own works in collaboration with artists of different fields.

As a maker, Mimi position herself on the intersection of performance and visual art with contemporary dance as the foundation of her creative practice. Through collaborations with other artists - mainly other emerging artists - the work branches out into various art forms, including contemporary circus, visual art, architecture, and applied philosophy. The different fields are put into a dynamic exchange with each other, fostering a fluid conversation between movement, form and meaning. The recognisable features in the works are not necessarily found in style, but rather manifest through Mimi’s application of a feminist philosophy, both in the artistic practice and the artistic output.
