Mimi Wascher is a contemporary dance artist based in Brussels, Belgium.
She began her studies in the Netherlands at Fontys Hogeschool and graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. As a freelance artist she started working with Théo Mercier and Steven Michel. In 2021 she began the collaboration with the Belgian dance company tout petit, who’s work focuses on young audience.
In her own work Mimi analyses the different conditions her body exists in. Following a feminist philosophy, she aims to create space for the complexity of meaning a body and its actions can have. The co-creation 'If you feel the same way, get back to me sometime, ok?' with dance artists Anne-Lene Nöldner and Lucía Nieto Vera marks the beginning of her research in the intersection of visual and performing arts, which continues in her current solo project 'BLUE', as well as a the collaboration with architect Riham El Moazen. Previously Mimi has co-created works with performance/visual artist Ruben Mardulier, as well as performance philosopher Paul Möstl.
Next to her artistic work, Mimi is part of the anchor group of 'voices of dance', who, among other things, takes part in discussions about Belgian art policy.
